We’re proud that the TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation is funding a two-part programme that’s contributing €1,897,000 to help in the fight against Covid-19. The Foundation programme is happening in addition to a donation by TK Maxx and Homesense stores of over €6,700,000* worth of food products that were delivered to food banks and medical charities in local communities across Europe.
Most recently, our lovely associates packed up seasonal treats from our stores and donated them to foodbanks, medical and children’s charities.
The Foundation’s programme is divided in two parts and is funding the following:
Community Fund, €1,116,000
The Community Fund is dedicated to helping local grassroots charities who are working hard in the fight against Covid-19. Associates from our TK Maxx and Homesense stores, processing centres and offices across Europe have nominated charities within their community who are doing great work in supporting the most vulnerable.
Tackle Covid-19 Fund, €781,000
The second part of the programme is the Tackle Covid-19 Fund of €781,000 also funded by the Foundation. This has seen separate amounts donated to support mental health and front line medical charities. In Ireland these include Aware and the Irish Red Cross supporting those impacted by Covid-19. The fund also includes a component of support for our national charity partners across Europe to help protect their income.
This programme is in addition to a donation by the Foundation of €150,611 to the Disaster Relief Alliance run by British Red Cross, which is helping groundbreaking global emergency response strategies and is being used to support those affected globally by the Covid-19 emergency.
Louise Greenlees, President of TJX Europe:
“Our thoughts are with people around the world who have been affected by the Covid-19 outbreak. It has been brilliant to see good works, kindness and community spirit springing up all over the place. We are very thankful that the TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation can play a small role in supporting our communities at this time of need.”
The Community Fund supporting local charities chosen by our associates
The TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation is passionate about supporting local communities. That’s why, through the Foundation’s Community Fund, our associates are able to apply for grants on behalf of local grassroots charities that are important to them, their families and their local communities.
We’re proud that the TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation has a €1,116,000 Community Fund which is helping local charities across Europe – including 82 charities in Ireland including Cystic Fibrosis Ireland, Meath River Rescue and Shine Ireland.
Hear from the TK Maxx and Homesense associates who’ve nominated charities through The Community Fund…
I chose this charity as my niece was diagnosed with Cystic fibrosis as a new-born 18 years ago and this charity has helped her and our family with support and knowledge. CFI assist the development of finding a cure, help control Cystic Fibrosis and also promote the interests and welfare of anyone with Cystic Fibrosis in Ireland.
During Covid, the TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation gave us the opportunity to apply for community funding to a charity that’s close to our hearts. I picked the Meath River Rescue, a charity very close to my heart in County Meath. We live beside the beautiful River Boyne, a beautiful place, yet so sad. Meath River Rescue work voluntarily, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to support the local county and the public who may place a call for a missing person or a recovery from the river. Thank you to the TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation for this funding.
I choose the Shine Centre for Autism (Shine Ireland) based in Cork. In 2015 I became a mother of beautiful boy named Kajetan. Kajetan was reaching his milestones like every other baby until he turned 16 months when I started to notice his speech was delayed and his eye contact was poor. After an assessment, he was diagnosed with Autism. I went to Shine Ireland and asked for help. They were so amazing to me – so kind and gave me great tools and advice as to how I could to help Kajetan.
Supporting charities through our Tackle Covid-19 Fund
The TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation is passionate above giving back to our local communities. Let us tell you more about how The TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation is supporting two charities here in Ireland…
Irish Red Cross
The work of this amazing charity has been essential as the impact of Covid-19 increased, requiring greater community support activities for thousands of vulnerable individuals and families all across the country. We’re proud to be supporting the Irish Red Cross.
We’re also supporting Aware, a brilliant charity which aims to create a society where people affected by mood related conditions are understood, supported, free from stigma, and encouraged to access appropriate therapies. Their Covid-19: Coping with Anxiety work provides helpful resources for managing mental wellbeing during this time.
